Policy Statement

This event is being organised by a local committee of musicians and jazz fans.

Our aim is to promote jazz on the Isle of Wight. Members of the committee will not receive any financial reward. Inspected accounts will be made available on request.

The committee will cover the cost of the main venues and headline acts. This will be funded by sponsorship, ticket sales and other fund-raising activities.

Any subsequent profits will go towards funding future events.

We will encourage other performances during the period. However, we will not act as agents. It will be the responsibility of the performers and venues to negotiate between themselves.

Gabriel Latchin

Gabriel Latchin"The passion for jazz started as a young teenager when I first heard Oscar Peterson," remembers Gabriel Latchin. He graduated with one first class degree from Edinburgh University (in economics) and another from the Guildhall School of Music - on jazz piano. He has also studied with world leading pianists Aaron Goldberg, Peter Martin and David Berkman, as well as guitar favourite Peter Bernstein and saxophone colossus Grant Stewart.

He has also worked with Ronnie Cuber, former Jazz Messenger Jean Toussaint, Grant Stewart, Alex Garnett, The London Jazz Orchestra and The Royal Scottish National Orchestra. He has performed at concert halls, clubs and festivals around the UK and Europe, including Ronnie Scott's, The Barbican, The Queen’s Hall, The London Jazz Festival and The Jazz Bar.

Gabriel Latchin is quickly gaining the respect of his peers both in the UK and US. Christian McBride first recognised his talents while Latchin was still a student at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and recently called him personally to perform with him at Wigmore Hall. The concert featured opera star Renée Fleming and was well received by audience and critics alike.

"Gabriel is an excellent musician and one hell of a nice guy."
Christian McBride

"Elegant, tasteful and swinging!"
Renée Fleming

"Polished."
The Times

"Flawless."
