Policy Statement

This event is being organised by a local committee of musicians and jazz fans.

Our aim is to promote jazz on the Isle of Wight. Members of the committee will not receive any financial reward. Inspected accounts will be made available on request.

The committee will cover the cost of the main venues and headline acts. This will be funded by sponsorship, ticket sales and other fund-raising activities.

Any subsequent profits will go towards funding future events and a donation to charity (IW Mountbatten Hospice).

We will encourage other performances during the period. However, we will not act as agents. It will be the responsibility of the performers and venues to negotiate between themselves.

Stacey Kent

Line-up : Stacey Kent, vocals; Jim Tomlinson, saxes, flute; Graham Harvey, piano, fender; Jeremy Brown, bass; Josh Morrison, drums.

Acclaimed Grammy-nominated, US singer, Stacey Kent, sings from the soul, telling her stories with faultless phrasing and a lucid, enchanting voice. Stacey appears at [Venue/Festival Name] to present her best-loved songs alongside selections from her latest album, TENDERLY (Sony Records). TENDERLY, an intimate collection of standards, sees Stacey revisit the Great American Songbook, the repertoire for which she first became known.

TENDERLY, is Stacey's first standards album since her Gold-selling 2003 album, THE BOY NEXT DOOR. The intervening years have seen Kent broaden her repertoire to include originals written specially for her by famed novelist, Kazuo Ishiguro and Jim Tomlinson. Her platinum-selling, Grammy-nominated BREAKFAST ON THE MORNING TRAM (Blue Note/EMI 2007), was described in Jazz Times as a "marvelously inventive launching pad for this bold, brave new Kent."

This was followed by the all-French, RACONTE-MOI (EMI/BLUE NOTE 2010), Kent's first live album, recorded in Paris, DREAMER IN CONCERT (EMI/BLUE NOTE 2011), and THE CHANGING LIGHTS (WARNER 2013), a collection of Brazilian and Bossa-inspired originals.

Other recent highlights include a live album with Brazilian composer/singer/keyboardist, Marcos Valle. Inviting Stacey to celebrate 50 years of his career, MARCOS VALLE & STACEY KENT AO VIVO (Sony 2013) sees them performing the greatest hits of Marcos' career (So Nice, If You Went Away, The Face I Love, Look Who's Mine etc) as well as new songs that Marcos has written especially for Stacey.

"Stacey's singing never lets us forget these songs are about people. Her protagonists come to life so fully in her voice, you sometimes have to remind yourself the CD has no visuals. She has, in fact, much in common with today's finest screen actors who, assured of the camera's ability to pick out detail, portray complex shades of personality, motive and feeling through subtle adjustments of face and posture....here’s a great jazz diva of our age." - Kazuo Ishiguro
