Policy Statement

This event is being organised by a local committee of musicians and jazz fans.

Our aim is to promote jazz on the Isle of Wight. Members of the committee will not receive any financial reward. Inspected accounts will be made on request.

The committee will cover the cost of the main venues and headline acts. This will be funded by sponsorship, ticket sales and other fund-raising activities.

Any subsequent profits will go towards funding future events and a donation to charity (IW Mountbatten Hospice).

We will encourage other performances during the period. However, we will not act as agents. It will be the responsibility of the performers and venues to negotiate between themselves.

Keith Ingham

Keith Ingham Keith Ingham was one of the stars of our 2012 event, appearing in two gigs of his own and making regular appearances in other gigs and on the fringe. We are delighted to welcome him back for 2013. As with last year, he has the Quay Arts Centre as his home for two gigs and again appears alongside his old friend Digby Fairweather. Alan Barnes describes Keith as "one of our finest exports to the USA" and it is not very often he makes a return to these shores - when he played here in 2012, he was interviewed for the Daily Telegraph. Keith is a highly accomplished swing and Dixieland revival pianist. His first professional gigs occurred in 1964. He played with Sandy Brown, Bruce Turner, and Wally Fawkes that decade. He played with Bob Wilber and Bud Freeman in 1974, and moved to New York City in 1978.

In the 1980s he played with Benny Goodman, the World's Greatest Jazz Band, and Susannah McCorkle. He also worked with Maxine Sullivan, Marty Grosz, Harry Allen, and Eddie Condon. He recorded several albums of 1930s songs for Jump Records.
