Policy Statement
This event is being organised by a local committee of musicians and jazz fans.Our aim is to promote jazz on the Isle of Wight. Members of the committee will not receive any financial reward. Inspected accounts will be made available on request.
The committee will cover the cost of the main venues and headline acts. This will be funded by sponsorship, ticket sales and other fund-raising activities.
Any subsequent profits will go towards funding future events.
We will encourage other performances during the period. However, we will not act as agents. It will be the responsibility of the performers and venues to negotiate between themselves.

Ian Bateman
Ian made his stage debut in 1977 with he National Youth Jazz Orchestra. During his time with NYJO, Ian played alongside jazz stars such as Guy Barker, Jay Craig, Graham Ward, Dave Bishop, Chris Hunter and Jamie Talbot, Phil Woods, Louis Bellson, Clark Terry, Slide Hampton and even Frankie Vaughan!After 3 years with NYJO, Ian was invited to join the Pete Allen Jazz Band and spent 8 years with Pete making a name for himself in the UK and Europe making many TV and Radio appearances.
Ian then had a spell as a freelance jazz musician, when he turned to playing bebop and mainstream jazz. He performed with such notables as Al Grey, Art Themen, Don Weller, Gene Connors and Barbara Thompson amongst many others.
Since then Ian has worked with Rod Mason's Hot Five, Terry Lightfoot Jazz Band, Kenny Ball and his Jazzmen, Acker Bilk and his Paramount Jazz Band, Dutch Swing College Band and the Los Angeles based Leslie Paula Salsa band.
In October 2001 Ian was asked to be the featured soloist in a new Big Band called 'Back To Basie', a chair distinguished by the great Al Grey in the original Count Basie Orchestra.
Apart from his regular dates with Back To Basie, Ian can often seen and heard performing with The Pasadena Roof Orchestra, Sticky Wicket's Little Big Band, Andy Cooper's Euro Top 8 Band, Tony Jacobs and his Cream Crackers and Pete Long's Big Bands as well some bands of his own - The Bone Supremacy, Frank & JJ Tribute, Bateman Brothers and Kick Ass Brass.
