Policy Statement

This event is being organised by a local committee of musicians and jazz fans.

Our aim is to promote jazz on the Isle of Wight. Members of the committee will not receive any financial reward. Inspected accounts will be made available on request.

The committee will cover the cost of the main venues and headline acts. This will be funded by sponsorship, ticket sales and other fund-raising activities.

Any subsequent profits will go towards funding future events.

We will encourage other performances during the period. However, we will not act as agents. It will be the responsibility of the performers and venues to negotiate between themselves.

Back To Basie Orchestra

Paul Lacey's Back To Basie is the only professional big-band in Britain to specialise in the music of Count Basie: straight ahead swing, played with dynamics, good humour, and a large dose of the blues!

Back To Basie features the best of London's jazz and big-band musicians playing the music of Basie's second great orchestra of the 1950s and 1960s, the legendary 'Swingin' Machine'.

Launched in 2001, Back To Basie have since been presenting concerts with "Uncanny accuracy and style" throughout Britain and Europe to great reviews. Back To Basie featured vocalist is Jacqui Hicks - "a singer of warmth, poise, and intelligence".

Back To Basie has been voted Best Big Band in the British Jazz Awards - six times!
